A crowdfunding campaign set up to support the families of victims of the Manchester terrorist attack raised £750,000 in 24 hours.
The campaign was set up by the Manchester Evening News after readers had contacted the paper seeking guidance on how to assist. The fundraising project initially set out to raise £250,000 but that target was hit inside four hours.
“Manchester Evening News readers have been asking how they can help, so we have started this fund to help support the families in the aftermath of the attack,” reads the page’s description on crowdfunding platform JustGiving.
At the time of writing, the target has been increased to £1 million and £783,378 has been raised by over 32,000 donors.
Fashion retailer Boohoo.com, which has its head office nearby to the site of the attack, has pledged £100,000 to the campaign.
